Honoring My Native Veterans

I honor my native veterans with respect.  My family is made up of veterans.  My great Nelly was a Code Talker and my Nelly was in World War II.  He came back to us until last year.  My grandpa was in the Navy. My dad was an Airborne Ranger in the Army and my uncle was in the Navy just like his dad.  My mom tells me that I had an uncle that was in the Marines whom I never knew.

Our native veterans fought for our land to live on.  Many of our native people have been killed by the same country that they protected.  Even then, the native veterans have bigger hearts because they still serve this country.  Our ancestors’ land was taken away but they still fought because they are generous and they take pride in their native identity.

Our native veterans fought for our country we live on.  Even though this country that killed the children of our great-great-grandfathers, they still serve this country.  Even though the same people took our land, the native veterans have bigger hearts and they protected our country.

Veterans will always be a part of my life.  They are brave.  They have fought and some have died because of their bravery.  This is what my native veterans’ means to me.
