100 Years of Shonto        A historical gem in the heart of the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona.

The People

These are the Navajo

The elders, adults and children on this web site are the true Navajo, the true Dine’ -a people of Mother Earth and Father Sun.  The Navajo we know are men and women, boys and girls who as a group are secure in their beliefs, their customs, their families and their clans.  Some call this way of life –Navajo Culture.

The ties that bind the young and the old Navajo, blend and enrich the lives of all through a common bond called the clan.  Through the clan, the knowledge of the old people is passed on to the young.  These are our students.  The helping hands of the young enable the old to accommodate the new ways and ideas.  The Navajo, then, keep hold of the strength of their past while adapting that which is new to their betterment.

These are the Navajos of Shonto. Let us introduce you....
