100 Years of Shonto
A historical gem in the heart of the Navajo
Reservation in Northern Arizona.
Then & Now
The 75 year old black and white photographs of Shonto, Arizona
were found in a book by Elizabeth Compton entitled "The Navajo Trading Days"
published in 1963. All of the students who took part of "The 100 Years
of Shonto" project participated in locating and studying these photographs.
Mrs. Crowley-Miner then re-photographed the landscape from the exact
location that the black and white pictures were taken and the students
compared the changes and similarities of each site.
